Engr. Raymund Olivo, Provincial Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Davao del Sur, convened a strategic meeting with Mayor Jesus S. Dureza, Jr. and members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Hagonoy to address pressing local concerns.
A key agenda item was the formulation of a permanent solution for tricycle and pedicab operators and drivers affected by DILG Memorandum Circular 195-2023. The group revisited the previously implemented 60-day temporary measure, which allowed continued operations while stakeholders sought a sustainable resolution.
The Sangguniang Bayan is now tasked with drafting a local ordinance that aligns with national policy while safeguarding the livelihood of affected drivers and ensuring commuter welfare.
Mayor Dureza underscored the urgency of the matter, citing its far-reaching impact on transportation stakeholders and the riding public. He called for a comprehensive and compassionate approach to policy-making that balances regulatory compliance with community needs.
