The Philippines joins over 100 countries worldwide in celebrating Safer Internet Day (SID) for Children today, February 10, 2026. This annual global initiative promotes safer and more responsible use of digital technology, with a special focus on protecting children online.
SID is officially recognized in the Philippines through Proclamation No. 417, declaring every second Tuesday of February as Safer Internet Day for Filipino Children.
This year’s theme, “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado Laban sa OSAEC at CSAEM”, underscores the importance of a whole-of-nation approach in safeguarding children from online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) and child sexual abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM).
“At the heart of this celebration are the voices of the youth, whose call to action inspires bayanihan among government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector,” organizers emphasized.
The event highlights the collective responsibility of families, schools, communities, and institutions to foster a safer digital environment. By encouraging responsible internet use and addressing both challenges and opportunities in the digital world, SID aims to empower Filipino children to thrive online.
Together, we can make the internet a safer, more inclusive space for everyone.
